As you might have seen earlier this year, with bigger and more exciting events on the horizon, we’ve been on the lookout for some more support and to grow the MYP team!
In our latest article, we’re excited to introduce our new team members who tell us a little more about themselves. Not only do they share our passion for creating the best community our great city has to offer, but they’re also bringing with them new and fresh ideas for future events and initiatives.
The new team will be joining some familiar faces, Chloe, Martin, Fran and Tom, who have been a key part of MYP over recent years.

Stacy Uma
Where are you from?
I was born and bred in London before my family moved to the Midlands so from the best parts of the country!
What brought you to Manchester and what industry do you work in?
I’d been in London for a couple years and post-pandemic I wanted a change so I made the big move. I currently work in the banking sector.
Why do you love Manchester?
It’s such a vibrant city and there’s always something to do and people to meet!
Why are you excited to be on the MYP team?
I’m excited to get to know everyone, build connections and support with some amazing events.
Favourite restaurant in Manchester?
If you’re nice I’ll send you my iconic foodie list where I’ve rated some amazing places BUT dinner – Sugo Pasta or Oystercatcher (Chorlton), brunch – Pot Kettle Black and drinks – Local Blackfriars!
Natasha Khalique
Where are you from?
Nottingham
What brought you to Manchester and what industry do you work in?
After 9 years in London, I was offered a job up in Manchester and was ready for an exciting new chapter! I am a Family Law Barrister and work in the legal industry.
Why do you love Manchester?
What’s there not to love.. It’s such a vibrant city and everyone is so friendly!
Why are you excited to be on the MYP team?
I can’t wait to be part of an amazing team that hosts a variety of events that both empowers and connects emerging professionals.

Where are you from?
Chester
What brought you to Manchester and what industry do you work in?
I’ve been in Manchester since 2013 when I came for University. I’m a Prince2 project manager and have now worked across multiple industries. Currently I’m at a Creative Agency looking after a number of high profile brands like MyProtein.
Why do you love Manchester?
Manchester is.. Welcoming, Unique and Fun!
Why are you excited to be on the MYP team?
When I came back to Manchester a lot the friends I had met had moved away after uni. It was actually my Mum who suggested I look for the young professionals network. I’ve met some fantastic and inspiring people since being apart of MYP and if you’re living in the city and want to meet like minded people and have some fun, come down to one of the events. After all Mums are always right?

Joel Carter
Where are you from?
Liverpool (I know controversial for a Manchester young professional!)
What brought you to Manchester and what industry do you work in?
I moved Jobs in 2021 and work in the Wealth Management industry for Artorius Wealth Management, specifically focussing on Financial Planning.
Why do you love Manchester?
The people in Manchester have been so welcoming, especially all the young professionals in various different industries I have met.
Why are you excited to be on the MYP team?
For me it was a team that when I had met I knew were onto something really special, the range of different backgrounds and industries makes for an incredibly talented and genuine team, who have been so supportive.

Annie Curie
Where are you from?
America
What brought you to Manchester and what industry do you work in?
I moved to Manchester in 2015 to pursue an MSc. After this, I moved into Financial Services first on an ACA graduate scheme, then after qualifying I moved into Corporate Sustainability and ESG.
Why do you love Manchester?
I adore the laid-back, friendly culture of Manchester – it’s made me feel so at home! There are so many amazing places to visit for food, drinks, exercise, exhibits, and nightlife.
Why are you excited to be on the MYP team?
I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in with the MYP team and meeting a diverse group of young professionals.
Favourite restaurant in Manchester?
My favourite restaurant here is the Sparrows – really can’t recommend it enough.
Abbie Smyth
Where are you from?
Corby, Northamptonshire
What brought you to Manchester and what industry do you work in?
I work at a creative agency doing social media marketing. Being from a small town with not much going on, I came to Manchester two years ago for the job opportunities here and because I loved living up North after studying in Sheffield.
Why do you love Manchester?
Manchester is THE place to be. Particularly for social and PR, there are some of the best agencies here and I’ve met some amazing people. There is so much going on here, the best food and bar spots and we have the Peaks on our doorstep too.
Why are you excited to be on the MYP team?
After taking part in MYP’s mentorship programme last year, I’m so happy to be part of the team to get involved in all of the great events and have the chance to network and meet more great people in Manchester. I’d also love to work with the team to raise awareness of MYP amongst the creative industries in Manchester and launch events like creative mornings for people in the sector.
Favourite restaurant in Manchester?
It’s impossible to pick just one! I love places like Mackie Mayor because there’s a variety of options, or Ramona is a great vibe!
